Sediment cells were defined and mapped for the Vlamingh Region of WA from Cape Naturaliste to Guilderton, in a collaborative project between Damara WA and Bob Gozzard of the Geological Survey of Western Australia (Department of Mines and Petroleum). The three levels of sediment cells generally correspond to different planning scales. Supporting documentation provides detail and justification for definition of the sediment cells framework for use by the Department of Transport.
The definition of sediment cells is presently being extended for a further three regions: the Midwest (Guilderton to Glenfield), Northampton (Glenfield to Murchison River mouth) and the Pilbara (Giralia to east of Beebingarra Creek). Datasets and reports for these regions were completed August 2015.
